Got up to an overcast sky although there was no rain over night so the tent was nice and dry inside and out. Once out of tent I went to do morning duties, upon returning it started to.....rain. Darn. I was hoping I could get camp broke and packed while dry but that was not to be. I put on my rain jacket and took down tent, packed up the rest of my gear and got it all back into the trailer without having to leave something behind. It did stop raining in a while.
Left the KOA campground, which was brand new and very nice, stopped to get ice for the cooler. Paid $2.82 for a 10 pound bag. Am I wrong is that expensive?
Ran for 30 miles on US 95 and just past Richmond VA at exit 61B stopped at Denny's for breakfast. Wow! I am very impressed with this restaurant. Everyone is greeted when the come in, ("Hi! Welcome to Denny's"), the service was great, the food good and hot and everyone busy. Will be stopping again at this chain.
Stopped at BP gas station in Dunn NC. Once the gas was pumped the machine said to see cashier for receipt. Needed to clean my windshield but there was no water in the bucket to wet the windows of any cars in any islands. Went inside, the man behind the counter looked at me and I mentioned I needed a receipt for the motorcycle at the pumps. He didn't say a word and proceeded to hand me a receipt he printed. I went to the restroom and it was dirty, the place was just one that looked like no one cared anymore. The parking lot lines were almost gone and times looked tough in that area. I will not be stopping at another BP if I can help it. BTW, the receipt was not for the gas I pumped. Go figure.
Stopped at the South Carolina border for the picture of the bilke and rider with the sign.
Below is picture entering North Carolina earlier today.
I stumbled around some with my Garmin GPS to input the address of my sister-in-laws house. I followed the directions but it took me to the address in Dillon instead of Mullins, SC. I wonder if I messed up? Probably, but anyway I found Mullins manually and drove there. Just happened to pass her house as she was looking outside and I waved, turned around and came back.
Sure was nice to arrive at the destination after a good, full day of riding. Parked rig in the back yard and covered with a tarp since it was going to get thunder storms and wind at night. Had a great visit with sister-in-law whom I have not visited her house in Mullins in some 18 years. WOW!!!
Called brother-in-law in Atlanta to see if he will be home tomorrow evening. He will so I will head that way in the morning.
